Let's Reason Together

Year 2020 is ending soon!

In a few hours, the Year 2020 will be all over! Most of us can’t wait for it to be done with. The remaining hours left of 2020 will be a good time to praise and thank God for having kept you/us throughout the year. Pause to acknowledge that despite everything that 2020 offered us, it was still because of God that

  1. it was not much worse,
  2. we survived it, and
  3. are still alive waiting to crossover.

Each one of us probably knew someone who departed this earth, in 2020, due to covid-19 or some other ailment. We empathize and sympathize with those who tested positive for covid-19 or lost loved ones. The fact that we are still breathing is still a testament to the goodness of God.

. . .

If there were no restrictions due to covid-19, churches would be getting ready for the night vigil/crossover service. There was a time when I used to wonder why the December 31st church services were called Crossover Night/Service. The services were, so called, to “present ourselves as a living sacrifice,” unto God for keeping us throughout the year, rather than being at a New Year’s party of sorts, while also petitioning Him to count us among those who would cross over into the New Year. It’s a great way to begin the year; don’t you agree?

For non-Christians, I hope there are similar services for the end of the year/New Year. If so, feel free to share in the comments.

For everyone, we all know how to appreciate and show gratitude. Seize the remaining hours of 2020 to do just that; that is, show God that you are grateful despite covid-19.

Debbie McDaniel offers seven things a grateful heart can do. See them here.

A heart of gratitude leaves no room for complaining. For it is impossible to be truly thankful and filled with negativity and ungratefulness at the same time.

I earnestly pray that we all crossover into the New Year 2021. I’m praising and thanking God for you. Please be safe out there.
