Who do you say that I am?

Jesus’s primary ministry was healing, miracles, and being about his Father’s business (Luke 4:29).  He did whatever he saw his Father do and does nothing that his Father does not do (John 8:28).

Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the enemy for God was with him. (Acts 10:38)

He came to set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18). He expelled demons (Matthew 8:16, 17:18, Mark 1:34, Luke 13:32), healed the sick (Matthew 8:2-16, Matthew 9:2, Mark 3:10-11), opened ears of the deaf (Mark 7:32, Mark 9:25) and the eyes of the blind (Mark 10:46-52).

Jesus did much more,

Jesus performed miracles

1. Turned water into wine – John 2:9
2. Turned 2 loaves of bread and 5 fishes (p.s. there are other variations of this depending on the version of the Bible) to feed the multitude – Matthew 15:32-37
3. He used mud to open the eyes of the blind – John 9:6
4. He raised the dead (John 11:43-45).

His humanity was akin to ours

• Jesus loves/loved (John 11:5, 13:23, 14:31,) …
• He loved even his enemies (Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:27, 35)
• Jesus ministered and gave his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45)
• Jesus wept (John 11:35)
• Jesus was tempted by the devil – Matthew 4:1-10
• Jesus taught and preached – Matthew 4:23, Matthew 11:1
• Jesus prayed. (Matthew 26:36, Luke 3:21)
• Jesus had compassion – Matthew 14:14, Matthew 15:32
• Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life – John 14:6

Jesus’s primary ministry was performing various types of healing (those who were sick with fever, the one who was deaf, another who was dumb, the one possessed with demons, leprosy, etc.). In our modern-day, these sicknesses translate to arthritis, cancer, leukemia, diabetes, etc.  He also did some miracles (walked on water, turned water to wine, turned a few loaves, and a couple of fishes to feed the multitude. 

Let’s believe

I am intrigued about Jesus’ statement that greater things than this I (and you) will do if we believe.  This is a challenge for whosoever chooses to accept it (credit to Russell Brunson)!  I interpret that to mean I can do everything He did and much more.  Is that your interpretation as well? If so, why aren’t we having miracles all around us; why aren’t the sick being healed; why can’t we foretell, and why didn’t we know that COVID-19 (and other disasters) was about to hit and prayed for it to be averted?  Why do we engage in idle talk and not find solutions for God’s people?  There are tons of questions running through my head as I blog this. 

If Jesus said it, I believe it.  Let us believe for the divine and miraculous in Jesus’ Name.

There have been many dispensations/movements in the church history; the last two being prosperity movement and dispensation of grace.  Our faith, though constant, needs to grow with every movement for us to access and benefit from it.  If faith is stagnant, we might not benefit from the dynamic movements. Faith, coupled with love (a blog for another day), will move mountains! (1 Cor 13:2)

When the Church listens to the Holy Spirit, it becomes fruitful. New movements are born.

The new

God is doing a new thing and I sense a new movement of miracles where the church (not the building) will be carriers (and performers) of Jesus’ Ministry. As it is written, they will speak and send the Word (of God) and lay hands on folks and folks will be healed, deliver God’s people from whatever is plaguing them, cast out demons (not to scare anyone, but these are real!), and much more.  These acts are already being done because Jesus gave gifts to men (1 Cor 12, Eph 4:11). But it will now become the norm rather than the exception and done in big measure.  These acts will not diminish the health industry nor undermine health professionals.  Far from it.  These will be acts of collaboration.

Jesus gave gifts to men (1 Cor 12, Eph 4:11), irrespective of your knowledge or acceptance of Him. The gift of healing is one of such gifts. The gifts of healing work by laying of hand(s) on the sick – this is not only a priestly act as in the Catholic church.  We are kings and priests (Revelation 1:6, 5:10).  The one with a gift of healing often feels sensation (some say “fire”) in their hands when healing is to be performed.  Sometimes, it is feeling the other person’s disease which hitherto the “healer” did not have. These are the two most common signs that one has the gift of healing.

Another gift is the gift of miracles.  We will see more miracles now than ever before.  What is a miracle?  

A miracle is "an extraordinary and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is attributed to a divine ..."

These two gifts, together with the gift of faith, (and the gift of the discerning of spirits) are referred to as the power gifts. The gifts are needed now and particularly as we return to our new norm post-covid-19.  Each of us has been given a measure of faith (Romans 12:3).  Though faith starts as a mustard seed (Luke 12:6), faith grows when effectively utilized.  There’s faith that can move mountains (1 Cor 13:2).  Faith can be likened to a muscle; it must be exercised. If not, it atrophies.  The more you use it, the stronger it gets.

Will you accept the challenge?

So, what are we waiting for?  Do you recognize your gift(s)?  If so, start exercising them.  Do not wait.  If you do not recognize your gift, you can ask Father God for the gifts you desire. Not selfishly to parade them, but once given, to be ready to use them to freely benefit mankind.

Please remember that all gifts come from our Father God; freely you received the gifts and freely you ought to give (Matthew 10:8).  The gifts should not be monetized.   

Once given, (and even before you receive your gift), spend time in His Presence, praying, reading and meditating on His Word, so that you can be ready when the time to exercise your gift comes.

Will you accept the challenge to be Jesus’ mouthpiece on earth?  I do.

Prayer of Salvation
