The sun shone brightest in my neighborhood yesterday
Was I so glad to see and feel
The sun so hot and
The sky so clear
And all so calm.
The little things we take for granted.
Just the day before
The sky was gloomy
and early pitch darkness
At a time
when it ought to have been clear and bright
The rain poured
At a lesser capacity than was predicted
But what a warm and humid fall it was
Near the beaches yet it felt like in the tropics
Why so sudden
With no warning?
Hilary
or was it Kill’ary
Passed through
Bringing with it
All sorts
That hadn’t been seen or heard of in almost 100 years
But we are grateful for all the emergency personnel
who swiftly took action
To help prevent, mitigate, or avert
Kill’ary and its baggages.
Hearts out to all who lost precious things
Prayers up
Mercy came down
And within hours
Kill’ary was downgraded
It failed in its forecasted endeavor
Still it left mirage of its passing
In some areas
Yet it came with gifts nonetheless
Gifts of much needed rainfall
Enough for the year in a day
Good did come in the midst of the chaos and panic
Beauty for ashes
Laughter after weeping
Praise God nevertheless
Man, was I happy to feel the sun
And see the sky so clear
Never take anything for granted
Never ever.
