Why Being a Christian is so Hard

It’s so hard being a Christian
When so much wrong is done to you
By family members, close friends, or colleagues, and just about everyone
That you have to live life ignoring their wrongdoings
And choose instead to continue loving and praying for them
But I’ll trade no other place
But to be known as a Christian

Being a Christian is so hard
That without introducing yourself
People already know who you are
How and where did you meet? You wonder
But it’s as if there is an indelible Jesus mark on you
Everyone knows you but you
But I’ll trade no other place
But to be known as a Christian

Being a Christian is so hard
Because everyone sometimes seem to wanna take advantage of who you are

Dare you complain and they’ll be the first to ask “what kinda Christian are you?”
They think you’re dumb
And enjoy playing their funny games on you
But being meek is not a weakness
And choosing once battle is not stupidity
I’d rather be those latter than to answer to the other labels
Still I won’t trade no other place
But to be known as a Christian

Being a Christian is so hard
Because the truth is that true Christians struggle walking the narrow path and would rather return to their pre-Christian days and kick and slap some folks silly
But none of that is them anymore
Cos old things have passed away and we’ve become new creatures in Christ Jesus
Cos never have I seen Kings and Priests embroiled in street fights
Of whom you’ve been called
So we simply smile when all we want to do is be like Peter and pull out our swords to slash some ears off
But Lord Jesus won’t be happy as he wasn’t with Peter
Still I’ll trade no other place
But to be known as a Christian

Being a Christian is so hard
that it feels we are judged the hardest compared to other religions
Do they not know nor see that there is good and bad in everyone and in every religion
And in every culture and country irrespective of their religion
So why judge Christians so
Um, I see, it’s a constant battle
that we have to face cos we chose the Cross;

The one who can save, heal, and deliver
Is the one they try to take out
As it is written, just as was done to Lord Jesus
Do not suppose that you’ll be exempted
But remember that If you suffer with Him, you will reign with Him
Take heart brethren for you’re in good company
Of the bearer of the Good News
Forgive them and just keep keeping on

So, my friend, these are some of the reasons
why being a Christian is so hard
But be strong in your faith
Unwavering, unshakable, and immovable
So when those lies, slander, deceit, and manipulation come
And they will surely come
Do not be surprised at the fiery trial
It is just a test
Are you gonna waver and crumble
Or will you stand tall and immovable
As He overcame, so would you

Still I’ll trade no other place
But to be known as a Christian

Though being a Christian is so hard
God help us all 🙏🏾
