MLK was a Prophet

Happy MLK Day. I hope you’re enjoying the liberty that today marks and are living to make a difference. Some days, I wonder if I am doing enough or have made any impact on anyone’s life; known or unknown. But I continue to do my best.

Martin Luther King, Jr. made an impact he never lived to see. Whereas some of us will witness impacts made on others’ lives (like parents-children) while still breathing, the majority might not. But, it shouldn’t deter us from being a daily difference maker.

A Prophet in his time

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a prophet in his days. I wonder if anyone ever addressed him as such while he was alive. The title today has been proliferated.

A prophet is a Chief Visionary Executive in God’s church. He is God’s spokesperson established in the church to foretell what God is doing, about to do, and/or both. He speaks God’s words to His people including rebukes, and corrections. The prophet foretells events that might both be instantaneous and futuristic. But the hallmark of those prophecies/foretellings (and of course the prophet) is that they will surely come to pass. Most times those events seem like impossibilities and people might think the prophet is crazy.

It is worthy to note that most of the “dreams” in MLK’s classical “I have a Dream” speech have come to pass. Those that haven’t, I’m sure still will.

Still more

The length of the journey towards total freedom lies within each of our hearts and can be as short as our breaths.

It’s an awesome time to be alive but, as a nation and humanity, we still have a long way to go. The length of the journey towards total freedom lies within each of our hearts and can be as short as our breaths.

I am glad Martin Luther King, Jr. did all that he did – he stood up for tons of moral and civil values. He stood up against injustice. He stood for peace. His voice, and tons of others’,, makes being a citizen worthwhile.

But it’s still not over. We must peaceably continue to carry the torch and honor the legacy.

What are you standing up for today? In face of adversity, will you still stand?

God help us all. ✌🏾
