10 Unexpected Ways to Surprise Each Other

Surprise Each Other

Just because you’ve now captured each other, or the babies are popping in, does not mean that the dating and romance ends.

It’s always good to rekindle the romance in a relationship. Most couples are great at doing so while dating, but sadly and quickly forget once married. The romance candle that was glowing brightly is slowly dimmed or put out once the couple becomes parents. The attention then shifts to the babies/children.

Children are great to have, but they shouldn’t be the reason that married couples stop dating each other.

To keep that initial spark burning, ever so brightly, set date nights or days/weekend aside for each other. It doesn’t have to be anything expensive. But should you decide to indulge, I’m sure that you deserve it. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Personalized Treasure Hunt: Create a treasure hunt around your home or neighborhood, leading each other to meaningful places or items.
  2. Breakfast in Bed with a Twist: Serve breakfast in bed, but add a playful twist like heart-shaped pancakes or a note hidden under the toast.
  3. Memory Lane Picnic: Plan a picnic in a spot that holds special memories for both of you, like where you had your first date or first kiss.
  4. DIY Spa Night: Set up a DIY spa night at home with homemade face masks, scented candles, and relaxing music.
  5. Random Act of Kindness: Surprise each other with a random act of kindness, like doing their chores for the day or leaving a love note in their purse/wallet.
  6. Plan a Surprise Date: Take turns taking charge of planning a surprise date night, complete with reservations at a new restaurant or tickets to a show the other has been wanting to see.
  7. Customized Gift Basket: Put together a gift basket filled with the other’s favorite snacks, drinks, and little treats tailored to their interests.
  8. Midweek Movie Night: Surprise each other with a midweek movie night featuring their favorite films, complete with popcorn and cozy blankets.
  9. Secret Message in a Bottle: Write a heartfelt message and place it in a bottle, then hide it somewhere for each other to find.
  10. Create a Photo Album: Compile a photo album of your favorite memories together, adding in new photos and mementos from recent adventures.

Conclusion

Surprising each other doesn’t have to be extravagant; it’s the thought and effort that counts. Get creative and have fun with it!

I prefer the idea of taking turns or teaming to do the activities together. That way it is not one-sided with one doing it all and the other merely receiving without reciprocating. Of course, it will be different for each other’s birthdays. On birthdays, one celebrates the other.

What do you think? Do you agree on rekindling romance in relationships and marriages?
