Preamble
I was “lost” driving through an airport’s parking lot. It was my first time at this airport. I drove in circles trying to find the exit. As I did, I saw a bunch of police officers and thought to ask them for help. As I slowly approached, my eyes caught a couple standing beside them. Simultaneously wondering whether it was safe to approach or not, my eyes caught the car (a BMW coupe) they all stood beside. Wow wt___?! I immediately made a turn to continue driving. Luckily, I saw and followed another driver who knew the way trying to exit.
The Scene
The car’s four tires had been removed and the vehicle was propped up by some other device – I couldn’t see what held the car up though.
Several thoughts and questions raced through my head … I hope there are cameras around that captured what happened; where were the police or airport securities while it was going on? (Lord forgive me for asking this one question as I’ve read that the PDs are understaffed, but …). did any other driver witnessed what happened? did the car’s alarm go off …? And finally, I concluded that the owner probably just bought some new and expensive wheels, shared his/her thoughts that he/she would be out of town, which triggered the plot to retrieve those wheels … help finish the rest.
Witnessing this scene triggered today’s post. Sadly, some might dismiss it as just another incident. Personally, it is much more. Read on.
Sheer Anarchy
Sheer Anarchy in America?!
The United States, once a beacon of democracy and order, seems to be unraveling before our eyes. Headlines filled with chaos paint a disturbing picture: from
- retail thefts orchestrated by organized gangs, to
- youths brazenly raiding 7-11 stores, and now,
- alleged reports of immigrants ambushing school buses, and to,
- immigrants taking over apartment complexes in Aurora, CO.
With all the above acts of lawlessness, the question on everyone’s mind is, what more could possibly happen before our leaders declare, “enough is enough”?
Rebuttals
I found rebuttals on the school bus and apartment takeover.
The authorities’ rebuttals makes it all even more interesting and beg the questions of (1) “who is telling the truth?” (2) “are these news part of a political propaganda?” (3) “why would anyone seek to misinform the public?” and (4) “where is the ethics of the professions in all these?”
Oh, one more question: “can we (or should we) believe anything on the news?”
We all have to answer these questions. Each of our answers will undoubtedly vary to the degree that each one of us is unique. Moving on …
A Nation Spiraling into Disorder
The rapid escalation of lawlessness across the country is alarming. What began as isolated incidents of retail theft has ballooned into a full-scale assault on the very fabric of our society. We’re witnessing a disturbing trend where organized groups—sadly and lately, youths—feel emboldened to engage in criminal activities with little fear of repercussions.
The recent invasions of multiple 7-11 stores by groups of youths were shocking, not just for the act itself but for what it represents—a breakdown in respect for law and order. Even more alarming are recent reports of immigrant culprits. These acts of aggression and lawlessness are not just isolated incidents; they are symptoms of a deeper societal malaise.
The Cry for Justice and Order
In a democracy, the rule of law is paramount. It ensures that every individual, regardless of background, is subject to the same legal standards and protections. Yet, when the rule of law is undermined—whether through gang activities, unchecked immigration, or government inaction—democracy itself is at risk. Why invade and turn to debacle the same country you run to for shelter? It’s nonsensical.
The authorities must act swiftly and decisively. Law enforcement agencies need the support and resources to tackle these issues head-on. Our legal system must be fortified to ensure that justice is not just an abstract ideal but a reality for every citizen. This means tougher penalties for those who flout the law, better coordination between local and federal agencies, and a renewed commitment to upholding the principles that have long been the cornerstone of American democracy.
Thank goodness that California Governor recently signed into law new measures that will crackdown on the retail crimes as well as property thefts. We hope to see a decline in these crimes as a result.
The Spiritual Crisis: A Nation in Need of God
However, addressing the symptoms without tackling the root cause will only lead to temporary relief. The real crisis is not just social or political; it is spiritual. As a nation, we have drifted away from the moral and ethical foundations that once guided us. Read my post on The Paradox of the Pledge of Allegiance: A Nation’s Contradictions. The rise in crime, the breakdown of community, and the erosion of respect for authority all point to a deeper void—one that can only be filled by turning back to God.
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
Matthew 24:12 KJV
The Bible warns of the consequences of turning away from divine guidance. Proverbs 29:18 reminds us that “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Without a moral compass, society descends into chaos. Now more than ever, we must recognize our dire need for spiritual renewal. This is not just about individual faith but about a collective return to the values that once made America strong: freedom, love for one another, respect for authority, and a commitment to justice.
Recommended Actions: Reclaiming Our Nation
Strengthen Law Enforcement:
Empower police forces and legal institutions with the necessary tools to combat rising crime. This includes increasing funding for community policing, providing better training, and enacting stricter laws to deter criminal behavior.
Reform Immigration Policies:
Immigration topics are a sensitive issue and this step is a huge one to straighten out. Even as this action is included, I wonder where to start.
We need to ensure that immigration laws are enforced fairly and effectively. This includes securing borders, vetting newcomers thoroughly, and creating pathways for legal immigration that uphold the rule of law.
I haven’t seen any country that allows its borders to be blatantly invaded as America has. The issue is not to disallow folks in to the country, but, for the safety of all, to ensure that the folks are legitimately entering.
America and the United Nations are one; America is the United Nations notwithstanding that UNO comprises 193 countries. Many turn (and run) to America for solution. Particularly such solutions as amnesty and asylum. And that’s great. But, America should balance its internal and external interests/policies such that one is not dragging the other down or being upheld at the detriment of the other.
Revitalize Community Engagement:
Encourage local communities to take an active role in maintaining order and safety. Continued neighborhood watch programs, youth mentorship, and community outreach should be encouraged and increased to help rebuild trust and cooperation between citizens and law enforcement.
Turn to God:
Another sensitive topic … As a nation, we must acknowledge our need for divine guidance.
I already see people asking “who are you to tell us what to do – I don’t believe in God!”
To those who say so; I ask, “what do you believe in?” Yes, sone of us have been disappointed in life and wonder where God was when sordid things were happening. I’m sorry that such happened to you. But, it does not erode the existence of God. Your mere existence is a reflection of a higher power. Ponder on that for a month. Anyhow,
Turning to God can begin with dedicating a day (or more) every month, particularly as we face another dire time in our nation with the upcoming presidential election, to intensify with a national day of prayer, encouraging individuals to seek God’s wisdom in their daily lives, and promoting values that align with our nation’s foundation.
Promote Civic Education:
Educate the public, especially the younger generation, on the importance of democracy, the rule of law, and moral values. Schools, churches, and community organizations should work together to instill these principles.
Conclusion: A Call for Renewal
The challenges facing America are complex and multifaceted, but they are not insurmountable. By addressing both the social and spiritual crises that plague our nation, we can begin the process of healing and restoration. The time has come for our leaders to act, for our communities to unite, and for our nation to turn back to the principles that have long sustained us. In this moment of crisis, we must look to God for guidance and strength, trusting that with His help, we can overcome even the darkest of times.
Like Noah, may we find grace in the eyes of God and may He never say to us/America:
“… The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” (Genesis 6:13 KJV)
God help us. God help America. 🙏🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏿
