Witchcraft is Real – Part I: Know what it is

Witchcraft has no place where Jesus reigns

Learn about witchcraft not to fear it but to understand how it operates today.

When we think of witchcraft, most of us picture the stereotypical image of an old woman with a crooked hat and broomstick, but in today’s world, witchcraft isn’t just folklore or Halloween imagery—witchcraft has moved beyond folklore, weaving itself into the fabric of everyday life; it’s a very real practice that manifests in many forms and influences lives in often unnoticed ways. Knowing this can be a powerful step toward safeguarding ourselves and our loved ones.

What Does Witchcraft Look Like Today?

In many cultures, witchcraft has evolved, taking on forms that are subtle yet powerful. It can be practiced by individuals of all ages and appearances—anyone, from the person next door to a distant acquaintance, could be involved. It isn’t always as obvious as dark rituals or potions; often, it can be as discreet as manipulative words, hidden intentions, or spiritual actions performed in secret to bring harm or control over others. It also is no longer the old man or woman image. Witchcraft is in the boardrooms! And lately, the youngsters are being manipulated into it.

When we understand the subtle ways witchcraft works, we become empowered to guard ourselves and our loved ones.

Knowledge isn’t just power—it’s protection.

Here are a few forms of modern witchcraft:

1. Words as Spells: Some people use words in ways that go beyond simple speech; they can use certain phrases repeatedly to bring harm or create emotional turmoil. This kind of “verbal witchcraft” can make someone feel incapable, unworthy, or hopeless over time, without the victim understanding the source of their suffering.

2. Psychic Influence and Manipulation: Many modern witches claim to be “psychic healers” or “spiritual advisors,” using their influence to manipulate others’ actions and decisions. This can include using their so-called “powers” to change someone’s mindset or control outcomes in relationships, jobs, or other areas of life.

3. Energy Channeling and Negative Intentions: Some practitioners manipulate energy fields to create disturbances in a person’s life. For example, they might send negative energy toward someone, leading to unexplained illness, bad luck, or emotional imbalance.

4. Occult Practices Disguised as “Self-Help”: A lot of practices today encourage people to manifest desires through powerful affirmations or specific rituals. Though not always harmful, when paired with occult intentions, such methods can involve manipulating one’s free will, and when they are intended to harm, they can become a form of spiritual bondage.

5. Lies and Confusion

This is the greatest witchcraft weapon. Modern, and witchcraft generally, can covertly and overtly take form in manipulation, lies, and confusion that disrupt our minds, hearts, and relationships. It relies on spreading lies (slander), half truths, false stories, and creating confusion, hiding behind subtle manipulation rather than overt actions. A core element is deceit—planting false ideas or perceptions, in one’s and other people’s minds, to distort truth, keep people off balance, and ultimately control or harm them. Lies and confusion can be harder to identify than rituals because they infiltrate our, and people’s, thoughts, making us doubt ourselves and people doubting us, our relationships, or even our purpose.

Consider how these forms of witchcraft might appear today:

1. Manipulation of Truth: Some people twist the truth just enough to create division or doubt, planting seeds of mistrust. This often looks like “harmless” gossip, constant criticism, or spreading half-truths designed to make someone feel insecure or isolated.

2. Creating Confusion and Doubt: Witchcraft often works by confusing people to the point where they can’t trust their own judgment. This can manifest in relationships where one person manipulates another with mind games, leading them to feel perpetually unsure, even about the simplest decisions. It can make people question their intuition, creating an emotional fog that’s hard to clear.

3. Fueling Fear with Lies: Witchcraft doesn’t need a visible face to be effective; it often uses fear to keep people subdued. This may look like a “friend” who constantly warns someone of impending harm or failure, stoking anxiety rather than giving support. Over time, the person internalizes these fears, allowing themselves to be guided by fear rather than truth.

4. Breaking Down Beliefs and Values: Lies that undermine someone’s core values can serve as a powerful tool for control. For instance, a person might subtly question someone’s beliefs or morals, leading them to feel disconnected from their own identity. This confusion can make them vulnerable to outside influences, allowing others to manipulate them more easily.

Real-World Effects of Witchcraft’s Lies and Confusion

While witchcraft might seem like something out of a fantasy novel, its impact on real lives is profound. Here’s how lies and confusion work to derail people’s lives:

Relationship Strain: Lies can tear relationships apart. Someone may feel distant from a loved one because of suspicions or doubts that weren’t there before—suspicion fueled by false stories or half-truths told with hidden intentions. The confusion and mistrust can grow to the point that it becomes almost impossible to see the truth.

Loss of Direction: When someone is surrounded by lies or manipulated into believing they’re incapable or unworthy, they can begin to lose sight of their goals and dreams. Self-doubt becomes ingrained, creating a cycle where they second-guess every decision.

Spiritual Disconnection: Lies, manipulation, and confusion don’t only damage our minds—they can hurt our spiritual well-being, disconnecting us from our values, faith, and purpose. This spiritual isolation is often what modern witchcraft aims for, as it leaves a person vulnerable to manipulation and even self-destruction.

Real-World Examples of Witchcraft’s Effects

Many people have experienced the effects of witchcraft without recognizing it. Here are some examples:

Unexpected Misfortune:

It is witchcraft if it does not make logical sense.

Sometimes, sudden health issues, financial losses, or family problems can be more than just bad luck. When these patterns become persistent and defy logical explanation, they could be a result of someone’s ill intentions or spiritual influence.

Unexplained Emotional Burdens:

Some individuals find themselves dealing with intense and inexplicable feelings of depression, anger, or sadness. In some cases, these are brought about by the negative energy directed toward them, impacting their mental and spiritual health.

Conflicts in Relationships:

Constant tension in families or relationships that seem irrational or extreme may have roots in spiritual manipulation. For example, people may feel inexplicably disconnected from loved ones or unable to resolve misunderstandings because of outside spiritual interference.

We call all these “attacks.” Witchcraft bombards its victims with one attack after another. The goal is too weary the “victim” to surrender. But , you have to be strong (in the Lord), put on the whole armor of God, and fight back (Ephesians 6:10-17) for you’re a victor.
