English finally declared as America‘s official language

America’s and World Languages

Better now than later, but why America waited so long to officially do so beats me. It’s great to be empathetic and compassionate towards others, but some things just don’t make common sense anymore in politics or governance.

Should anyone need tell anyone about the need to learn the language of where you choose to reside? Pardon me but, I think that’s merely a commonsense thing to do. But, here in California, we have folks who have been in the State so long, yet still don’t speak nor understand English. How do you expect to communicate with others?

Have you ever ordered food delivery or a ride, and the delivery person or driver speaks no English? Communication breakdown. Pourqui? por qué. Warum. Perché. She ko si? Thank goodness for Google Translate and other Apps that some use. But, most just don’t care. What’s more, you are now projected as the dumb one for not understanding their language! C’mon. Please.

Other Examples

I had friends who went to study in the Eastern bloc countries in those days As a student, they had no choice but to learn the languages as quickly as they possibly could if they were to succeed in their education. Some might argue that that’s different. To which I disagree.

Also, the French are widely-noted for being a proud nation. Most understand English language. But, if you’ve ever come across one and spoken to them in English, they just stare at you. Particularly so if you were in their country. You would suppose that they’d be glad to want to help a visitor/tourist out – nope, most of them don’t care. They put on an aura of “what are you doing here if you can’t speak our language” so to speak. Do I blame them! Somewhat. I’m a visitor/tourist. Would be different if I migrated to live in France, then their attitude might be justified.

Now America

I feel like the French in this instance towards America not having sooner clarified and declared English as the official language. In fact, should we even have to? Shouldn’t it simply be implied? It’s actually American English; different from British or Australian English.

Not only that, in California, most government documents are translated into multiple languages. Why? Beats me. Waste of tax payers money in my opinion – an area for DOGE. Folks whose languages aren’t translated, could retort discrimination. I’m surprised that there hasn’t been lawsuits from those sectors.

I wonder if such will prevail in places such as France, U.K, the Middle Eastern countries. Japan, China, or even, Australia.

Well, that’s what happens when a government is smooching to the people. I even heard that the Chinese language is now being subtly introduced as a language in Nigeria?’ Would China replace Mandarin with English? 🤔

I’m sure that tongues are wagging on this, but honestly, the President is right on this one and we need to give him credit for it.
