The robots are here indeed

Robots buddying: Laschem & Kosem

And they have names like yours and mine for identification purposes. 😊

Meet Austin, Khalif, and Francisco below. I could barely read the names of the featured robots above.

I first saw a robotic server at the California Pizza Kitchen, back in September, taking foods to customers at the back of the restaurant. I was shocked but watched amusingly.

Since then, it’s as if I stumble on one every day.

Are you ready to embrace?

I’m somewhat old school when it comes to dem robots. I can’t even imagine myself being in an auto-driving car, like WordPress founder, Matt, excitedly shared in one of his blogs that I read. (it was a good read, but sorry I couldn’t find it to link here)

What if something goes wrong while driving and the doors are all locked up? Is there a way of escape? Will it recognize traffic signs?

Well, I’m not yet ready for those experiences.

At first try, I’ll prefer a co-passenger. Two is better than one for they can both help one another should the need arise 😆

The race is not to the swift

I remembered when cell phones were first invented. How many remembered the big boxes that folks had to carry around. What was it called again? Nokia? Those were the 1st generation, just like these robots are now. Well, fast forward to the 5th (or is’t 6th) generation phones that we have now. What a contrasting and great difference in size and portability.

Even when the mobile phones became smaller in size and just about everyone desired one for various reasons, I knew folks who didn’t want any of it.

Also, if you’re young (pun intended) to remember, when self-checkouts were first introduced at grocery stores. Most thought that they were going to totally take over human cashiers. I remembered a friend who was so anxious about it because her daughter worked at a large grocery store. She worried about her daughter’s job being eradicated and how she would interact with the “computer.” Well fast forward, all is well with both and she loves the self checkout.

We’ll see if we all embrace dem robots. Time will tell. For now, I’m fine admiring them scurry the streets.
